The Janitor’s Son

The cafeteria erupted in laughter when Marcus threw Daniel’s backpack across the floor.

“People like you don’t belong here,” Marcus said, kicking the bag beneath a table.

Daniel quietly picked up his books while dozens of students recorded the scene on their phones. He said nothing, even as Marcus continued mocking him.

Then the cafeteria doors suddenly opened.

The principal rushed inside and shouted, “Everyone, stop!”

The laughter disappeared.

She looked at Daniel, then turned toward the janitor standing near the doorway.

“You all need to know who his father is,” she said.

The janitor slowly walked forward.

“He is the man who saved this school during the fire last year,” the principal continued.

Marcus’ smile vanished.

Daniel finally looked up.

His father stared directly at Marcus.

“Now,” he said calmly, “let’s talk about what you did to my son.”

The entire cafeteria went silent.
