As the boys hugged me, Blake stood frozen beside the Bentley, unable to take his eyes off them. The resemblance was impossible to ignore. The oldest boy had his smile, the youngest had his dark hair, and the middle child had the same determined expression Blake wore whenever he faced a challenge.

“Mom, are we still going to Grandma’s?” one of the boys asked.

I smiled and nodded.

Blake finally found his voice.

“Emma… why didn’t you tell me?”

I looked at him for a long moment. Five years of pain, accusations, and unanswered questions rushed back at once.

“I tried,” I said quietly. “But you made your decision before hearing the truth.”

The realization hit him harder than any business loss ever could. For years, he believed he had been betrayed. Now he understood that the family he always wanted had been standing right in front of him all along—and he had walked away from it.
