The diner was busy that afternoon.
Customers filled every table, laughing and enjoying their meals.
In the corner sat a homeless man.
His clothes were worn.
His hands trembled from hunger.
For nearly an hour, he stared at the menu without ordering a thing.
Most people ignored him.
Some pretended not to notice.
But a young waitress named Emma did.
She walked over and quietly asked if he was hungry.
The man smiled sadly.
“I haven’t eaten today,” he admitted.
Without hesitation, Emma brought him a hot meal.
When the food arrived, the man’s eyes filled with tears.
“I can’t pay for this,” he said.
Emma smiled.
“You don’t have to.”
The man finished every bite.
As he stood to leave, he paused beside her.
Then he said something strange.
“One day, someone will need your help more than I do.”
Emma laughed softly.
“I think you need it most.”
The man smiled.
“Trust me. You’ll understand someday.”
Then he walked away.
Five years passed.
Life changed.
The restaurant closed.
Emma lost her job.
Bills piled up.
Soon she was facing eviction.
One rainy afternoon, she sat alone on a park bench holding overdue notices, wondering how she would survive.
Then a luxury car pulled up beside her.
A young businessman stepped out.
“Emma?” he asked.
Confused, she nodded.
The man handed her an envelope.
Inside was enough money to cover her rent and expenses for months.
Emma stared at him in shock.
“Why would you do this?”
The young man smiled.
“Because years ago, you helped my father when nobody else would.”
Emma froze.
Then he handed her a small note.
With shaking hands, she opened it.
Written inside were the words she had heard years earlier:
“One day, someone will need your help more than I do.”
Tears streamed down Emma’s face.
The homeless man she had helped had never forgotten her kindness.
And neither had his family. โค๏ธ
