The Birthday Wish

The Birthday Wish

Every year on his birthday, 78-year-old Walter visited the same diner.

He always ordered a small cupcake with a single candle.

And every year, he sat alone.

Fifteen years earlier, Walter and his daughter, Emily, had a terrible argument. She left town, and they never spoke again. Despite searching for her, Walter never found out where she went.

One rainy evening, a young waitress named Sarah noticed him quietly singing “Happy Birthday” to himself.

When she asked why he was alone, Walter smiled sadly and pulled an old photograph from his wallet.

“This is my daughter,” he said. “She used to celebrate with me every year.”

Sarah looked at the photo and froze.

The woman standing beside Walter looked exactly like her mother.

Tears filled Sarah’s eyes.

“My mom’s name was Emily,” she whispered.

Walter’s hands began shaking.

After fifteen years, he had unknowingly found his daughter through his granddaughter.

That night, Walter’s birthday wish finally came true.

For the first time in years, he wasn’t celebrating alone. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”
