Florida Democratic politician Nancy Metayer Bowen was found dead at her home in Coral Springs during a police welfare check. Authorities arrested her husband, Stephen Bowen, as the case is being investigated as a domestic violence incident. Bowen, who served as Coral Springs vice mayor and vice chair of the Florida Democratic Party, was reportedly preparing to announce a congressional campaign. Her planned bid would have challenged Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick in the Democratic primary. Separately, Cherfilus-McCormick is facing federal criminal charges and an ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation over allegations of misusing FEMA disaster relief funds, allegations she denies.
