The airport terminal was filled with hugs, tears, and emotional reunions as soldiers returned home from overseas deployment.

Children ran toward parents.

Families held signs and balloons.

But near the far corner of the terminal, one little girl stood completely alone holding a teddy bear against her chest.

Around her neck hung a handwritten sign that simply read:

“Waiting for my hero.”

Most people assumed her family was nearby.

But after nearly an hour passed, a young soldier named Daniel noticed the little girl still standing there alone.

Concerned, he slowly walked over and knelt beside her.
